Oregon grape is a great alternative to goldenseal. It is said to have antimicrobial properties similar to goldenseal. Traditionally, it has been used to stimulate and protect the liver, and has been used in cases of hepatitis, and jaundice. It has been considered useful in purifying the blood and lymphatic system, so it often appears in formulas for skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis and acne.
