Spp. Juniperus communis
Sweet, pungent and aromatic. Stimulating diuretic, carminative, antiseptic, and stomachic.
Juniper berries have most commonly been used for urinary problems such as urine retention, stones, and gravel. Some use it to stimulate digestion before a meal, and flatulence. Juniper has also been found in formulas or salves for rheumatic complaints, in part because it is said to help reduce uric acid and stimulate blood flow.
Avoid use in cases of nephritis and nephrosis.
