You know turmeric when you see that distinctive orange color. It is commonly used as a spice in curries, but it is also thought to help stimulate digestion, the liver, and bile excretion. Today, it has been popularized for its anti-inflammatory effects, which might be useful for chronic and rheumatic pains. It is said that turmeric also has the ability to cross the blood brain barrier so it can be useful for depression partially caused by chronic inflammation.
