Spicy and warm.  Carminative, antiseptic, expectorant, antifungal, antimicrobial.  
Another popular spice, thyme is tasty and is said to help with indigestion. It is purported to have antimicrobial and antiseptic properties, which might be useful for the digestive tract, urinary tract infections, and for colds and flus. It has been used to help clear out lung congestion as well. It is thought to help with minor pains, insect bites, and stings. Traditionally, it was used to increase thyroid function if taken over a long period of time.
