Aromatic, sweet and spicy. Mild expectorant, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, galactagogue, and carminative.
In addition to it being a common spice, fennel is used in India as a breath freshener after meals, and to help digest the meal. It is most commonly used for indigestion, flatulence, and stomach spasms. It is also found in cough syrups as well, because it is considered to have expectorant and antispasmodic properties. It is said to increase mother’s milk production and aid in blood sugar regulation.
