Some people enjoy the slight umami flavor that celery seed brings to dishes. Traditionally, it has also been used for chronic kidney and bladder problems, gout, and rheumatism. Other traditional uses included stimulating a delayed menses, impotence, and frigidity.
Avoid use during pregnancy.
